GHS grapplers improve to 3-0

Gloucester High School wrestlers improved their Peninsula District record to 3-0 on Dec. 12 with a decisive 58-18 win over visiting Phoebus.

Dukes winning their matches by pin were Matt Favazzo at 113 pounds in 2:52, Anthony Monohan at 120 in 3:07, Taylor Caufield at 126 in 1:34, Jordan Schaal at 132 in 2:24, A.J. Ransom at 138 in 3:25, Robert Leso at 160 in 51 seconds, Steven Zavatski at 195 in 1:27 and Thomas Clifton at 285 in 5:27.

 

 

Devon Pullen at 170 won by major decision and decision wins went to Levi Reeves at 182 and Jerry Woodlief at 220. Will Neikirk at 106, Adam Kanaday at 145 and Russel Simpson were pinned by their Phoebus opponents.

Gloucester was scheduled to take on Heritage and Warwick on the Raiders’ mats last night and to participate in the Colon E. Baker Elite Classic on Dec. 28 and 29 at Great Bridge High School.
