GHS graduates 8 in summer graduation ceremony

Gloucester High School held its 72nd annual summer commencement program last Thursday in the newly-renovated GHS auditorium to celebrate eight graduates who worked diligently over the summer to earn their diplomas.
“You didn’t quit when things got hard,” said superintendent of schools Dr. Anthony Vladu. “You stayed in the fight.”
Vladu applauded the students’ commitment to their educations, celebrating their grit, discipline and integrity.
“That’s what it takes to build a career, build a family and build a life,” said Vladu.
The summer graduates helped the school make history in two ways last week. This was the first group of students to walk across the stage after the completion of the GHS renovation project, which lasted two-and-a-half years.
And, according to the Virginia Department of Education, thanks to these students, the Class of 2025 has achieved the highest on-time graduation rate in the school’s history.
