GHS golfers win season opener

Gloucester High School golfers got off to an outstanding start Tuesday at Ford’s Colony in Williamsburg where they opened the Peninsula District schedule with a match-winning score of 316.

The Gloucester golfers turned in the top six scores in the district field, paced by medalist Zach Robb with a 77, and bested their closest competitors from Menchville by 45 strokes.

 

Also competing for the Dukes were Kyle Rowe with a score of 78, Zach Kounse with 79, Hector Rios with 82, Dylan Hogge with 83 and Larry Brown with 85.

GHS coach Toby Calloway, who takes over this season from longtime Gloucester coach Jerry Morgan, said his team of experienced players is expected to repeat as the district title holder. The district plays at Kiln Creek on Tuesday.
