GHS golfers stretch lead to 39 strokes

With their fourth win in four outings, Gloucester High School golfers stretched their lead over their nearest competitors from Warwick to 39 strokes last Thursday. 

The Dukes turned in a team score of 364 at the Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club in Smithfield, followed by Warwick with 366 and Menchville with 372. Cameron Baker and Hunter Martin each had scores of 88 for Gloucester, David Grimm shot a 91 and Trent Green had a 97. Syler Blowe and Carter West shot 98 and 116, respectively. Baker is ranked third individually among the Peninsula golfers with an average of 85.25 and Grimm is seventh with 89. After four matches, Gloucester has 1,458 strokes, Warwick has 1,497 and Menchville trails with 1,507.

The golfers are scheduled to play this morning at the Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run....
