GHS golfers hold 11-stroke advantage

Gloucester High School golfers lead the field after three outings and are holding on to an 11-stroke lead over the challengers from Woodside.

The Dukes had 1,065 team strokes after three matches, followed by the Wolverines with 1,076. Kecoughtan is third with 1,107, Warwick is next with 1,139 and Phoebus is fifth with 1,168.

GHS senior Dylan Hogge led the Dukes in the opening match Aug. 13 at Kiln Creek with a five-over-par 77. Gloucester won the match with 344, followed by Kecoughtan at 366, Warwick at 372 and Woodside at 374.

The golfers from Woodside took over in the Aug. 15 match at Williamsburg National, winning the outing with a 350. Gloucester was next with 364 and Kecoughtan was third with 368.

Hogge and senior classmate Connor Long tied for first for the Dukes at Williamsburg National with 85 strokes each. Senior Alex Palus turned in a 95 and freshman Carter West had a 99.
