GHS golfers build big lead in district

Halfway through the Peninsula District schedule, Gloucester High School golfers have a 163-stroke advantage over their closest competitors from Menchville.

The Dukes continued to dominate the district field in their most recent two matches. On Tuesday they posted a team score of 318 at the Piankatank River Golf Course, which is the district home course for GHS. Menchville was second with 353 and Denbigh was third with 367.

Gloucester’s Zack Robb, who has been the medalist for all five district matches, led the field at Piankatank with a 75. Also posting scores for the Dukes were Dylan Hogge with 77, Zack Kounse with 81 and Kyle Rowe with 85. All four GHS golfers are among the top 10 individually in the district.

 

The Dukes also won the district match played on the Jamestown course at Williamsburg National last Thursday. Gloucester turned in a 317, followed by Denbigh at 342 and Menchville with 347.
