GHS golfers atop Peninsula standings

Gloucester High School golfers continue to lead the Peninsula field after three matches. The Dukes had a team score of 322 at the Piankatank River Golf Club on Aug. 24, followed by Menchville with 361 and Warwick with 390.

Hunter Martin led Gloucester with a 77, Trent Green was next with 81 and Cameron Baker and Nathan Gross each shot 82 as they finished first through fourth. Grady Baker was eighth overall with an 88 and Jeremy Carr was ninth with a 90.

Gloucester has 944 strokes after three matches, followed by Menchville with 1,071 and Warwick with 1,156. Martin leads the individual standings with a 76.66 average, followed by Gross at 78.66, C. Baker with 79 and Green with 79.66. Davey Grimm and Lathan Burnett tied for eighth with 93.5 averages.  The Dukes also participated in an invitational tournament last Thursday at the Highlands Golf Course in Chesterfield.
