The Gloucester High School golf team is back in action, officially starting its season on Aug. 10 at Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run. Statistics for the match are not available since it had to be cut short due to inclement weather. GHS traveled to Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club in Smithfield last Wednesday, Aug. 12, finishing fifth out of 11 teams. Gloucester finished the tournament with an overall score of 342. Senior Fenton Scott led the team by shooting a 77, placing ninth overall. Senior Christian Cox shot an 87, followed by senior Aidan Mudrie with an 88, senior Landen Steele and junior Ethan Greene who both shot a 90 and senior Mason Schmidt with a 92. The Dukes competed at Kiln Creek Golf Club in Newport News yesterday, but final statistics were not available by press time. Gloucester will be on the road again today, traveling to play at Ford’s Colony Country Club, James City County, beginning at 10 a.m....
