GHS girls’ soccer remains unbeaten

The Gloucester High School girls avenged a 2011 Peninsula District Soccer Tournament loss to Woodside with a 2-1 win over the Wolverines on Tuesday.

The Lady Dukes came out strong and scored early in the first half. Carrie Adams crossed the ball and Lauren Orga was at the back post to head it in for a 1-0 advantage. That lead was short-lived, as Woodside tied it soon after the Gloucester goal.
The Dukes kept their momentum and scored a go-ahead goal when Mary Williams passed the ball to Delaney Doyle who found the net. A defensive battle ensued in the second half, which stayed scoreless for a Gloucester win. Cheyenne Hogge, at keeper for the Dukes, had several impressive saves in the victory.Gloucester is 5-0-1 going into a host of Denbigh today.
