GHS girls shut out Heritage, 7-0

The Gloucester High School girls’ soccer team shut out the Heritage Hurricanes Monday night, 7-0.

Brooke Cheatham opened the scoring with a goal in the first two minutes of play. She made the score 2-0 with her second goal about five minutes later. Forwards Kessa Romero and Gwen Robins assisted Cheatham’s goals. 

Cheatham achieved a hat trick in the 13th minute of the game from a corner kick taken by Robins where she easily tapped the ball past the ’Canes goalie. Alyssa Fulford scored the final goal of the half to put the Dukes up, 4-0.

To start the second half, Christina Parnell took a penalty kick as a result of a foul from the ’Canes defense on Cheatham and scored the fifth goal. Romero assisted Cheatham in her fourth goal of the game for to make the score 6-0. Parnell scored the final goal of the game in the 67th minute as Tori Johnson slotted the ball through the Hurricane defense and Parnell dribbled towards the keeper and scored.
