Gloucester High School varsity field hockey players had a 14-goal romp that left Bethel scoreless as the Dukes improved to 8-0 at GHS last Thursday.
Senior Cheyenne Hollandsworth led scoring with three goals and an assist and senior Karly Harwood had two goals and three assists. Goals were also scored by Molly Vaughan, Kessa Romero, Taylor Green, Elizabeth Thomas, Bri Miller, Caroline Kersey, Madi Hodges, Kerigan Winfrey and Whitney Robins.
Thomas, Robins, Romero and Shaelyn McNeil had two assists each and Winfrey contributed a scoring assist.
“We finally got a chance to play. I think the girls were getting a little cabin fever,” said GHS Mike Miller. A game scheduled with Warwick on Sept. 20 was postponed to Sept. 21 and then postponed indefinitely due to wet weather last week. By the time of the Bethel game, the Dukes had gone a week without a matchup.
