GHS girls post three tennis wins

The Gloucester High School girls’ tennis team improved to 6-1 with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Denbigh last Thursday.

At number one, Christine Riddett took her match, 6-1, 6-0 and Olivia Edwards at number two won in straight 6-0 sets. Kelsey Lineberry at three won, 6-0, 6-1 and fourth-seed Forrest Eversole won in straight 6-0 sets.

At number five, Katie Masiak won, 6-1, 6-2 and at six Jordan Simpson won 6-1, 6-0. Riddett and Edwards at number one doubles and Eversole and Rebecca Bish at number three triumphed in 8-0 pro sets and Lineberry and Masiak at number two won, 8-1.

The Lady Dukes downed Hampton on April 12 and Woodside on April 17, both by scores of 8-1. At Woodside, Riddett won 6-0, 6-1 and Edwards took her match, 6-2, 6-1. Lineberry won, 6-4, 6-2; Eversole took her match 6-1, 6-0, and Simpson pulled out a 6-1, 7-5 win. Masiak lost in straight 6-0 sets at fifth seed.
