GHS girls place 2nd, boys take 3rd in cross country meet

The Gloucester High School cross country teams competed in their first regular season meets last Wednesday at Newport News Park. The girls’ team placed second with 42 points and the boys’ team placed third with 96 points.

On the girls’ team, three girls placed in the top 10. Leading the pack was Mackenzie Alcorn who placed seventh with a time of 25:12.88. Right behind her was Rachel Blittle who placed eighth with a time of 25:16.43. Coming in ninth was Hannah Broadwell who finished in a time of 25:27.76, followed by Olivia Gray (25:52.93), Kayla Turner (26:16.50), Sarah Bullins (26:23.01), Zoe Scott (26.23.16), Chloe Sylvester (28.12.79), Michelle Field (29.44.45), Lacey Donnelly (29:47.26), Chelsea Shield (30:35.23), Kandalyn Baxley (32:13.36), Camille Reyes (32:21.68), Kaitlyn Parker (33:22.61) and Kendall Carucci (34:47.29).

For the boys’ team, Aiden Pincince was the first to finish for the Gloucester Dukes with a fifth-place finish with a time of 18:09.79. Following behind him was Joel Taylor who placed 19th with a time of 20:57.69. Erik Waters placed 21st with a time of 21:01.92 followed by Greyson Clements (21:36.64), Cesar Gomez (22:25.84), Braylin Johnson (23:25.24), Brayden Jackson (23:27.12), Lincoln Alcorn (24:04.90), Logan McAllister (24:55.79), Issac Torres (28:10.85), Ryker Jordan (28:11.68), Justin Sykes (28:53.48), Riley Rowe (28:55.87) and Jason Coleman (29:27.69).

The Dukes were scheduled to compete yesterday at Gosnold Park in its second Peninsula District Meet of the season.
