GHS girls notch two more shutouts

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team improved to 4-0 on the season with two more shutouts in recent action. The Dukes scored seven goals in their victory at Kecoughtan High School on Tuesday.

Channy Johnson led the offensive charge against the Warriors, scoring a hat trick. She now has seven goals to lead the team in scoring. Aubree Dorsey and Abygail Clayton each chipped in two goals.

Alexis Adams contributed two assists and assists were provided by Lily Perger, Kiley Parker, Bailey Wilson, Reese Miller and Johnson. Gloucester goal keeper Kareena Ferguson had one save to preserve the shutout.

The Dukes out shot the Warriors, 36-0, and earned 20 penalty corners while giving up only two. Over four games, the Dukes have out shot their opponents, 126-4.

Gloucester continued to control the midfield and possession throughout the game. Assigned to the midfield for the Dukes this season are Kamryn McDonough, Kiley Parker, Bayleigh Andersen, Dorsey and Wilson.
