GHS girls improve to 15-0

Gloucester High School varsity field hockey players are one game away from an undefeated season. The Dukes beat Warwick, 8-1, on the road Tuesday to improve to 15-0, and will host Hanover High School at 4 o’clock today to close out the regular season.

Today’s game will also honor the 14 GHS seniors on the Gloucester squad, with each of the soon-to-be graduates being recognized for their contributions to the team. 

The goal scored by the Raiders on Tuesday was the first goal the Gloucester girls have given up all season. “It was kind of a fluke,” said GHS coach Mike Miller. “Some of the girls were really disappointed but I told them, hey, one goal in 15 games is not so bad.”

Hannah Hamay had three goals in the win and goals came from Cara O’Beirne, Tally Vaughan, Kate Neikirk, H.P. Johnson and Channy Johnson. Neikirk had three scoring assists, O’Beirne had two and Ali Goodwin and Vaughan had one each.
