GHS girls improve to 12-2

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team improved to 12-2 overall with a 21-run shutout at Peninsula Catholic on April 27.

Kirsten Green (2-0) pitched the two-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks. The freshman right-hander went to one three-ball count the entire game.

Green was backed up offensively by Morgan Haywood with a bases-clearing double, a grand slam and a bases-loaded walk for eight RBIs. Haywood passed the 100-RBI mark last month. Macy Robbins and Alyssa Shackelford contributed two hits each. 

All GHS athletic contests were cancelled for Tuesday. Weather permitting, the Dukes were scheduled to host Bethel yesterday and Hampton Friday.  ...
