GHS girls improve to 10-0

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team improved to 10-0 with a 6-0 mercy rule win over visiting Menchville on Tuesday.

The Dukes dominated the game from the opening center pass and got on the scoreboard early with a goal from Reese Miller off a feed from Channy Johnson. The pressure continued and Miller and Johnson each finished with two goals.Aubree Dorsey and Mac-kenzi Reece each chipped in a goal, with Reece’s the first score of the season. Gloucester goalie Kareena Ferguson had one save on the day. The defense was stout again behind the leadership of Alexis Adams, Avery Watkins, Leigha Germain and Kailee Morris.

The Dukes outshot the Monarchs, 35-1, and earned 13 penalty corners to two for Menchville. For the season, Johnson leads the team in scoring with 16 goals and in assists with eight. Dorsey has nine goals and seven assists and Miller has eight goals.

As a team, the Dukes have taken 275 shots while allowing only six. They have earned 142 penalty corner...
