GHS girls go 1-2 in weekend tourney

The Gloucester High School girls’ varsity basketball team traveled to Boo Williams Sports Complex in Hampton for the Girls Christmas Classic on Saturday. The Lady Dukes lost to Landstown 43-34 after an exciting match.

GHS had a slow start, trailing by 12 points at halftime. They bounced back in the second-half, but it was not enough to beat Landstown. Top scorer for the Lady Dukes was Zebe Rhodes with 16 points. The Gloucester girls met a similar fate when they faced Deep Creek, falling 56-31. 

The Lady Dukes had a strong victory against Surry, winning 50-26. Gloucester had a well-balanced scoring attack from the entire team. Lauren Hall was the top scorer with 16 points. The Lady Dukes will be back at home next week. They will play Hampton on Tuesday and Denbigh next Friday, Jan. 10. ...
