GHS girls fall to Woodside, 3-2

The Gloucester High School varsity girls’ soccer team lost, 3-2, at Woodside on May 9 in their final game before the Conference 10 Tournament.
The Dukes scored first on a free kick across the front of the goal and Megan McGee ran from wide outside to put it in the net. Two minutes later Gloucester struck again when Gwen Robins passed to Lydia Hart who took the ball to the center for a scoring shot to give the Dukes a 2-0 lead.
The Wolverines scored soon after and the score was 2-1 at the half. Woodside scored two second-half goals, with the winning goal coming on a 30-yard free kick past the Gloucester keeper.
The Dukes were scheduled to open tournament play yesterday against Bethel, whom they beat, 4-0, on April 18. A win will send Gloucester to the semifinals to play the number-one tourney seed on Monday. The tournament is being hosted by GHS.
