GHS girls end regular soccer season with two wins

The Gloucester High School varsity girls’ soccer team posted two more wins to close out the regular season. The Lady Dukes finished the Peninsula District schedule in a second-place tie with Kecoughtan at 7-1-1. Menchville stayed undefeated to win the regular season title.

Gloucester got by Warwick on Tuesday. Lauren Orga scored early in the first half with an assist from Audrey Collier for a 1-0 Dukes’ advantage. Katie Daugherty added a security goal late in the second half before the Warriors prevented the shutout with a penalty kick. Cheyenne Hogge, Rachael Peterson and Mary Williams shared the Gloucester keeper duties in the win.

Last week, the Dukes dominated Phoebus in a four-goal shutout. Orga took a shot from the 20-yard mark that hit the post but Delaney Doyle followed up for the score. Doyle then assisted Williams on a pair of goals and Collier hit the net after a cross pass from Olivia Cross.
