GHS girls dominate with shutout wins

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team added to its win total over the last week by adding three more victories to its record bring the Dukes to 4-0 to start the season.

In its most recent game, the team traveled to Kecoughtan where it beat the Warriors, 15-0. Head coach Joe Dougherty said the game was a dominated by the Dukes the entire time.

Leigha Germain scored five of the Dukes’ goals during the game while Reese Miller scored four. Addy Jeffrey scored twice and Kiley Parker, Mary Ashton VanFossen, Abby Junker and Mackenzie Reece scored once each.

Hannah Symonds led the team in assists with three. Parker, VanFossen, Jeffrey, Miller and Hannah Symonds each and two assists each. Reece, Avery Watkins, Chloe West, Kaylee Hall, Kamryn McDonough and Emma Kadel had one assist each.
