GHS girls dominate at home meet

The Gloucester High School girls’ cross country team placed first at its only home meet of the season at Machicomoco State Park in Hayes last Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Annalise Helton placed first for Gloucester and second overall with a time of 24:02. Hannah Broadwell was next for Gloucester with a time of 24:36, followed by Casey Billings (25:35), Kayla Turner (25:45), Chloe Sylvester (26:51), Hannah Ridings (26:52), Chelsea Shield (29:17) and Abby Brown (29:27).

The girls won with a team score of 20.

The GHS boys’ team placed second overall at the meet. Chandler Howlett crossed the finish line first for Gloucester and second overall with a time of 19:26. Next for Gloucester was Josh Rodriguez-Cruz with a time of 20:22, followed by Tyson Ferrie (20:30), Cayden Felder (20:47), Mike Asnicar (21:16), Ian Waters (21:45) and Erik Waters (24:10).

The boys finished the meet with a team score of 46.
