GHS girls clinch district tennis title

The Gloucester High School girls’ tennis team clinched the Peninsula District regular season title Tuesday with a sweep of visiting Bethel. The Lady Dukes dominated in singles, winning all six matches with five matches won by scores of 6-0 or 6-1.

The Gloucester girls were equally strong in doubles, taking all three matches in eight-game pro sets. Two of the pairs shutout their opponents while one match stretched to 8-6 for the win. The Dukes head to the Peninsula District Tournament in Huntington Park today.
