GHS girls beat Mathews, 41-39

 

The Gloucester High School Lady Dukes avenged an earlier season loss on the basketball court, beating the varsity Lady Devils at GHS last Wednesday night, 41-39. The win was the first of the season for Gloucester.

The Mathews High squad as a whole seemed quite out of sync from the start, but managed to lead by six after the first period. However, the Dukes fought hard in the second, outscoring Mathews, 17-7, to take a four-point lead into halftime, 22-18. The contest was neck-and-neck throughout the second half, with Gloucester eventually prevailing by two points.

Blair South paced the Dukes with 13 points, Kaylynn Glockner had 12, Cieara Berg added six, Kathryn Lester had five, Cameron O’Neil had three and Bri Glockner contributed two.
