GHS gets firsts, placements at indoor meet

Gloucester High School indoors track and field athletes ended their regular season at the Norfolk Academy Meet #4 on Tuesday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.

For GHS, Celeste Barber won the junior varsity shot put with a throw of 24’8”. In the JV 300 meter dash, Morgan Paige was seventh in 50.37 and Erika Rudd was eighth in 50.44.

Ainsley Miller tied for first in the pole vault by clearing 8’6” and Nevaeh Davis, Rudd, Alexis Adams and Kayleigh Castro took fourth place in the JV 4x200 meter relay with a time of 2:13.24.

For the GHS boys, Tanner Baker was third in the JV 1000 meter race in 2:54.68 and second in the JV 1600 in 4:49.80, improving his indoor national qualifier mark. 

Also, Julian Hogge was fifth in the JV shot put with a throw of 30’.5” and Kiyou Gary was sixth with a toss of 29’6”. 

The Gloucester athletes also tuned up for the post season with the Suffolk Invitational held last Friday and Saturday. T...
