GHS Future Farmers win hippology contest

Gloucester High School Future Farmers of America members Shelley Brown, Lilly Johnston, Emily Johnston and Anna Cox, working with GHS FFA advisor Katie Staples, won first place in the state FFA hippology contest this month. The girls, who are active with Gloucester 4-H horse clubs and hippology, will travel to Ohio in October to compete on the national level.

Hippology is the study of horses. The state competition included making identifications, a multiple choice test, a team problem to solve and horse judging. The next contest for the GHS team will be during the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus.

The GHS FFA chapter will raise funds this summer to help offset the expense of the team trip and welcomes support from the community.
