GHS field hockey jayvees shut out Atlee

  

The Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey team got off to a great start with an eight-goal shutout of Atlee High School Aug. 23 at Wanner Stadium in James City County. The game was cut short by the mercy rule. 

Six Gloucester players scored and eight contributed assists. Abbie Thornton started the scoring with two goals right out of the gate. Megan Crowley led the offensive effort overall with two goals and four assists. 

Also scoring for Gloucester were Hannah Hamay, Alexis Adams, Aubree Dorsey and Lily Perger. Anna Owens had a pair of assists and assists came from Kylie Frush, Bayleigh Andersen, Madison Gross, Christina Riva, Jordan Scott and Dorsey. 

The junior Dukes earned 10 penalty corners and had 41 shots on goal. Defensively, Gloucester was led by Avery Smith, Erin Bell, Owens and Scott. Maggie Ronan and Lexi Little shared time in the goal cage but did not have any shots to defend.  “For the first game of the season, this ...
