GHS field hockey headed for successful season; 4-0 start

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team is headed for another successful season, posting four wins in their first four outings of the season.

The Dukes opened the Peninsula District season last Thursday with a nine-goal shutout at Phoebus. The Phantoms are participating in the MTV "Made" reality television series that follows teens that have a goal. Gloucester coach Mike Miller said the game was filmed for the series and several of his players were interviewed after the contest.

Hannah Joyce had four goals at Phoebus, freshman Emily Beamer contributed a hat trick and the Dukes got goals from Morgan Sadler and freshman Courtnie Greene. Two assists each came from Kayla Sadler and Greene and single assists were provided by Katelyn Curtis, Kelsey Gibbs, Anne DeLuse, Laura VanGieson and Morgan Sadler. "The girls played very well together, played as a team," Miller said.
