Gloucester High School varsity baseball players closed out the season last week in the Conference 10 Baseball Tournament at the War Memorial Stadium in Hampton.
The Dukes defeated Bethel, 3-2, in the quarterfinals on May 25 but lost, 3-0, to Nansemond River in the semifinals last Thursday.
Gloucester led, 3-0, in the first inning against the Bruins with a double from Brady Hudgins and a sacrifice fly from Jason Wood. Hudgins was two-for-three in the win with two RBIs and a run scored. Ridge Motley was one-for-two with a run scored and Nick Brandt got the win on the mound.
Following the tournament, Dukes’ shortstop Michael Diodato was named to the All-Conference 10 First Team. GHS outfielders Cody Brown and Hudgins, pitcher Brandt and utility player Wood were all named to the All-Conference 10 Second Team.
