GHS crew wins two silver, bronze at state regatta

The Gloucester High School crew, along with 47 other participating high schools, competed Saturday in the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships at Occoquan. The Dukes returned home with two silver medals and a bronze. 

Gage Holland, Titus Fox, Mitchell Moore and Aaron Shank rowed for silver in the men’s junior quad. They had a time of 5:56.84 and finished 10 seconds ahead of the third-place boat. 

James Raha, Ethan Schacht, Jeb Hutson and Zane Musick-Williams, along with coxswain Alex Bontrager, won their junior four heat in 5:50.1 and were second in the final in 5:58.42, just 2.2 seconds behind the winners. 

Hunter Emanus was third in the men’s single and earned a bronze medal with a time of 7:40.86. 

For the Gloucester women, Samantha Fank was fourth in the single in 9:10.28 and Casey Martin and Ashleigh Dough placed fourth in their senior double final in 7:01.64. Gloucester also entered a women’s junior four which was fourth in its heat.&...
