GHS crew places in two regattas

The Gloucester High School rowing team recently competed in two weekend regattas in Fairfax, earning multiple placements.

The crew traveled to compete in the Darrel Winslow Regatta on April 4 in Fairfax against 27 Virginia schools. Danielle LaCosa and Hannah McAllister placed second in the women’s varsity doubles event. In the men’s junior doubles, Mason Dominguez and Zack Crowell also placed second.

Blake Dorris placed third in the men’s varsity single event. In the women’s novice eight event, Olivia Moore, Addison Lance, Layla Moore, Lauren Chapman, Madelynn Lopez, Abbygail Polk, Evangeline Riggs, Sutton Stocki and coxswain Annabelle Neal took third for Gloucester.

Ted Phoenix

Gloucester competed at the Ted Phoenix Regatta at Occoquan Saturday against 32 schools.

LaCosa placed second in the women’s varsity single event. In the men’s junior doubles, Joseph Boulay and Crowell took second. Neal, Lance, Polk, Moore and Chapman placed third overall in the women’s novice quad.

Gloucester will return to Fairfax this Saturday to compete in the Ryz Obuchowicz Regatta, also at Occoquan.
