GHS crew competes in Eastern Virginia Championships

The Gloucester High School crew traveled to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens on Saturday to take part in the Eastern Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association Championships.

For the women, senior Ashleigh Dough led the way with a second-place finish in the women’s single. The women’s novice four of Olivia Schulz, Rana Incze, Shauna Bailey, Emma Johnson, and coxswain Olivia Jones missed out on a bronze medal by just .07 of a second.

For Gloucester’s men, the novice four of Jayden Jones, Colin Goetz, Pace Peterson, Michael Ziegenfus and coxswain Caitlyn Green turned in a strong performance, winning their race by five seconds. The double of Zane Musick-Williams and Mitchell Moore also placed first, winning their race by almost 20 seconds. Musick-Williams also competed in the men’s single, earning a second-place finish behind the reigning state champion, Thomas Foltz of James River High School.
