GHS crew among top finishers

The Gloucester High School crew competed in the Eastern Virginia Scholastic Rowing Regional Championships in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on April 26, earning two trophies and 28 medals.

Jacob Gross, Jacob English, Willis Redding, Tristan Buswell and coxswain Joshua Littlefield took first place in the men’s varsity four event. Also in first place were Makai Barker, Ryan Arnold, Mason Wood, Aidyn Noe, James Sanford, Gage Copeland-Garcia, Jackson Wright, Carson Promersberger and coxswain Jacob Johnson in the men’s novice eight event.

Arnold, Wright, Noe, Barker and coxswain Johnson took second place in the men’s novice four event. Mason Dominguez also took second in the men’s junior single event.

Olivia Moore, Sutton Stocki, Lauren Chapman, Layla Moore and coxswain Annabelle Neal placed second in the women’s novice four event.

Gross and Buswell placed third overall in the men’s varsity double event. Gross, English, Redding, Buswell, Dominguez, Zachary Crowell, Joseph Boulay, Blake Dorris and coxswain Johnson also earned third in the men’s varsity eight event.

Donation

VFW Post 8252 recently donated $3,500 to the team so it can purchase a newer boat.
