GHS cosmetology students finish successful semester

Gloucester High School cosmetology students had a successful first semester of competitions and look forward to competing with their skills and creativity in the semester ahead. 

 

The girls’ first outing of the 2013-2014 school year was to the Skills USA Cosmetology Competition at the state fair on Sept. 30. In the hair styling section, Kassandra Starling placed fourth in fantasy hair. Also, Bria Roman was fourth and Alyssa Nye was eighth in mannequin comb-out.

 

In the nail event, Meghan Wishmeyer, with Kayla Nelson as her model, was seventh in nail tech. In the total fashion look competition, ninth place went to hairstylist Olivia Edwards with makeup by Katie Masiak and Joelle Castle as their model.

 

In between contests, the students held a Hair Cut-A-Thon to benefit breast cancer research at GHS on Oct. 29. Over the course of five hours, the girls served more than 35 clients and raised over $300 for their chosen cause.
