Gloucester High School hosted its second blood drive of the school year on March 30, receiving approximately 50 donations and collecting more than seven gallons of blood for the American Red Cross.
Organized by GHS math teachers Katie Johnson and Donna Jemmison, in partnership with the Red Cross, the blood drive was held in the school’s auxiliary gym and was open to students and members of the community. Each donor received a $10 Fanatics e-gift card and a chance to win a trip to an MLB All-Star game.
GHS students were an active part of the event, manning the registration table, guiding donors to their seats, and retrieving refreshments for post-donation recovery.
Though this is the final blood drive for the 2021-2022 school year, GHS looks forward to next year’s blood drive and the opportunity to bring students and the community together for a common goal.
