GHS boys play Grafton to tie in soccer scrimmage

The Gloucester High School varsity boys’ soccer team played Grafton to a 1-1 tie in a rainy scrimmage last Thursday.

The Clippers scored first and the score remained 1-0 at the half. The Dukes switched formations in the second half to combat Grafton’s offense and midfield. Gloucester had scoring opportunities but Grafton’s tough defense kept the Dukes at bay.

Late in the matchup, Gloucester’s Luke Ferreira was fouled in Grafton’s penalty area and GHS senior Caleb Hines scored with his penalty kick to make it 1-1, which is where the game ended.

The Dukes are slated to scrimmage with Tabb at 7 p.m. today at GHS.

Wet field conditions moved the GHS junior varsity boys’ scrimmage with Grafton to Monday at GHS, and the junior Dukes prevailed, 5-2.

Jack Ronan scored twice for Gloucester and additional goals came from Cameron Bishop, Bobby Cox and Caiden Brumm. The GHS jayvees will scrimmage with Tabb at 5:30 p.m. today at GHS.  ...
