GHS boys place 11th at state meet

The Gloucester High School program ended its fall cross country season Saturday at the state meet at The Plains. The GHS boys’ team placed 11th, while the only Gloucester girl to make it to the state competition, Nicole Pinder, came in 74th overall with a time of 21:35.

Braving the chilly temperatures, Tanner Baker was the top finisher for the Gloucester boys, placing 34th overall with a time of 16:51. Also placing for Gloucester were Conner O’Beirne (52nd overall, 17:13), Jaxson Ellison (90th, 18:17), Austin Ezzell (97th, 18:36), Michael Toms (98th, 18:39), Justin Burgess (100th, 18:42) and Josh Ipock (104th, 19:38).

Albemarle was the Class 5 boys’ champion with 52 points, followed by Deep Run (86), Freedom (93), L.C. Bird (97), Stone Bridge (124), Glen Allen (142), Thomas Jefferson (168), Stafford (211), Princess Anne (213), North Stafford (245) and Gloucester (294).
