GHS boys hold 2-2 record

The Gloucester High School varsity soccer team moved to 2-2 with a pair of losses and a win in recent play.

The Dukes fell, 3-1, to visiting Smithfield on Monday after losing, 6-2, at Jamestown last Thursday. Their only win was a 3-1 downing of Hampton on Friday. Maxx Polk scored twice for the Dukes and Jordan Sindle added the third goal. 

The junior varsity Dukes had two wins and a loss in their recent play. After losing 4-0 at Jamestown last Thursday, Gloucester pulled out a 2-0 win at Hampton on Friday. 

The first goal against the Crabbers was scored on a corner kick by Carson Brooks which was headed in by Luke Ferreira near the end of the first half.

A great team effort by the Dukes broke down the opponents’ defense and Ferreira was able to notch a second-half goal to secure the lead and the win.  The jayvees notched another win Monday, downing visiting Smithfield 3-1. The Packers scored afirst, but Andrew Coxe responded for Gloucester to tie it, 1-1.
