GHS boys beat Bethel, Warwick in swim meet

The Gloucester High boys beat Bethel, 80-6, and Warwick, 65-28, and the girls bested Bethel, 63-31, in a Peninsula District swim meet at the Midtown Community Center pool in Newport News on Dec. 6. The GHS girls narrowly lost to Warwick, 50-44.

Jax Knott, Livvie Cohn, Jason DeGraw and Jacob Raines won their individual races while Hunter Lempka in the 500 freestyle and Colin Goetz in the 1,000 breaststroke took first place against both teams.

DeGraw broke a school record in the 200 backstroke and the 200 freestyle relay team of Raines, DeGraw, Brandon Goddin and Knott also broke the school record.

Boys placing first over Bethel were the 200 medley team of DeGraw, Goetz, Raines and Knott in 1:55.59, Knott in the 200 freestyle in 2.08.78, DeGraw in the 200 individual medley in 2.15.10, Raines in the 50 freestyle in 23.55, Knott in the 100 butterfly in 1.04.89, Raines in the 100 free in 54.22 and Lempka in the 500 free in 6.32.75.
