GHS boys advance to semifinals

The Gloucester High School varsity boys beat Nansemond River, 75-66, on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the Conference 10 Basketball Tournament at Menchville High School.

The fourth-seeded Dukes were led by Demariyea Sills with 19 points against fifth-seeded Nansemond River. Isaiah Spencer and Marcus Fortner had 14 points each and Jacob Darren and Xander Cooker each had 10 points.

Gloucester will face top-seeded Bethel in one semifinal matchup today. Second-seeded Kecoughtan will face third-seeded Hampton in the other semifinal, both at Menchville.

Gloucester lost to Bethel, 83-35, on Feb. 8 in the Dukes’ final game of the regular season for their second loss to the Bruins this month. Gloucester finished at 7-13 overall and 4-7 in Conference 10 action.
