GHS booters open season with three wins

The Gloucester High School varsity boys are off to a great start on the 2015 soccer season with three wins on the road to open the schedule.

On Monday, the Dukes shut out their hosts at Heritage, 4-0, with two goals in each half of the contest. Both first-half goals came from Chris Bendit. Gloucester allowed some opportunities from the Heritage attack but held on to the two goal advantage.

In the second half, a chip shot from Tanner Griffith gave the Dukes a 3-0 lead. Less than 10 minutes later, Cameron Thompson’s cross made its way into the net after a shot from Andrew Mortensen.

The Dukes prevailed over Denbigh, 5-1, at Mary Passage Middle School on March 24. They possessed the ball well and controlled the game from the starting whistle.

Scoring for Gloucester were Griffith, assisted by Thompson, Mortensen, assisted by Cole Williams, and Aaron Waters, assisted by Williams. Also scoring were John Moore, assisted by Cody Tillage, and Bendit with an unassisted goal.
