GHS booters lose two games

The Gloucester High School varsity boys dropped two games in recent soccer action, falling 2-1 to Kecoughtan on Tuesday and 5-1 to Nansemond River on Friday.

It was senior night Tuesday when the Dukes sustained the narrow loss to the Warriors. Kecoughtan scored first and held on through the first half. In the second, Maxx Polk hit the equalizer to notch it at 1-1.

The game remained tied, with both teams ricocheting shots off the goal frames, until the Warriors scored the go-ahead goal late in the second half. The Dukes close the regular season at Woodside on Tuesday.

JV Dukes

The junior varsity Dukes notched two wins in their recent outings. They left Hampton on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over host Kecoughtan. Yedam Yang and Andrew Coxe got the scoring done, with both goals assisted by Ferreira throw-ins.

The Gloucester jayvees also beat Nasemond River, 2-1, on Friday after losing to the team 4-2 last season. Isaiah Lester and Ferreira scored for the Dukes. The junior Dukes host Woods...
