GHS basketball hopes to rebound after tough start

The Gloucester High School boys’ basketball team has had its struggles this season. Currently sitting with a record of four losses and no wins, it seems that there might not be a lot to be excited for. However, it is not all doom and gloom.

The Dukes are averaging over 20 more points per game than they did last year. Three players are averaging double digit points a game as well. This includes Jayden Whiting who has been putting up 13.5 points a game.

The Dukes have had some bad luck with four straight games against top-ranked teams. Coach Rick Garner explained that they have, “struggled to stop the opposition consistently.” The season is still early, and these inconsistences still have time to be worked out.

Garner is not concerned with the season one bit. “We have a great group of young men that play hard and are eager to learn,” said Garner. With the improvements the team has made, it’s only a matter of time before the win column begins to fill...
