GHS baseball record improves to 8-3

Gloucester varsity baseball players pulled out a 5-4 win over Bethel Tuesday in extra innings to improve to 8-3. The Dukes held a 4-1 lead before the Bruins rallied back to tie the score at 4-4 in the top of the fifth.

Brett Lindsay came in to pitch for Gloucester and held Bethel scoreless through the final five innings. Junior Aidan Carter singled in the winning run for the Dukes in the bottom of the tenth inning.

Jason Wood pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win and Trey Fortner finished up on the mound as the Dukes beat host Warwick, 10-2, last Friday.

At the plate, Lindsay and Wood had two hits each, Reese Oden smacked a home run and Cash Watkins and Mathew Hudgins contributed hits.  Gloucester took a tough 10-inning, 1-0 loss at Atlee on April 12. Cody Shiflett threw six scoreless innings and Lindsay pitched the final four. Fortner had three hits in the loss, with Grayson Womble and Oden also getting hits.
