GHS athletes stand out in district meet

The Gloucester High School indoor track team competed in the third Peninsula District Meet on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.

The day saw standout performances from GHS athletes. Mya Baker placed first in the girls 3200-meter run with a time of 13:25.54, and first in the 1600-meter run in 5:49.04. Tanner Baker took first in both the boys’ 1600-meter run with a time of 4:37.50 and in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:01.68.

Reese Miller also had an eventful day, placing first in the girls’ triple jump with a distance of 29’11.The Gloucester girls’ relay team of Emily Shipe, Annalise Helton, Hailey Penahawk, McKayla Clark took first place in the 4x800-meter relay.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Emily Shipe and Abigail Junker placed fourth and fifth respectively. Shipe’s time was 6:31.41 and Junker’s was 6:32.07. Jaida Peet threw for 24’5.75 and placed third in girls’ shot put.
