GHS athletes begin track and field season

The Gloucester High School track and field teams competed Monday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in their first regular season meet. The GHS boys finished in seventh place and the girls were eighth.

For the Gloucester girls, Jasmin Scott was third in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:36.13 and Lauren Hill, Baily Miller, Alissa Adickes and Scott were fifth in the two-mile relay in 11:19.19.

On the boys’ side, Aaron Shipe was fourth in the 3,200-meter race in 12:43.83 and Joseph Lineberry was fifth in 12:44.07. Tristan Spears, Will Winter, Justin Garcia and Antonio Morales were second in the 800-meter relay and Brady Barefoot was second in the 500-meter dash in 1:11.33. Morales was also fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19’1”. 

The third annual GHS Pre-Holiday Track and Field Meet will be held at the Boo Williams Sportsplex tomorrow and Saturday. Twenty-nine teams from across the state and Maryland are registered to compete in the event, which begins at 4 ...
