GHS adds African American/Native American electives

The Gloucester School Board voted unanimously on Nov. 10 to add African American History and Native American Studies to the elective course offerings at Gloucester High School for the 2021-2022 school year.

The vote came during the board’s November monthly meeting held at the T.C. Walker Education Center. Five board members attended the meeting in person and two attended virtually.

The board also voted 7-0 to expand the number of college courses GHS students may take to receive high school credit. In addition, the board voted 7-0 to approve an updated fiscal year 2022 budget calendar.

In the budget calendar, the superintendent’s proposed budget is set to be presented Feb. 18 and a public hearing on the proposals is scheduled for March 9. The school board is set to adopt an FY2022 budget on May 11.
