Get a shot … and a scoop

As COVID-19 cases rise and younger people are increasingly affected by the Delta variant, Virginia is getting creative with its vaccination outreach, offering various incentives for the vaccine-hesitant to reconsider getting the shot.

Locally, Short Lane Ice Cream Parlor owners Toni and Barry Childress have agreed to provide a free scoop of ice cream to anyone who stops by tomorrow to get a free COVID-19 shot during the Three Rivers Health Department’s vaccination clinic at the parlor. No appointment is necessary.

The clinic will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Friday at 6721 George Washington Memorial Highway. The Pfizer vaccine will be used, so anyone ages 12 and up is eligible for the vaccine. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18 and must verbally confirm the minor’s date of birth.
