GERALDINE FLEMING RICHARDS ARMSTRONG

Geraldine Fleming Richards Armstrong died at home on Horn Harbor, Mathews County, on 09 August, 2019 after a long struggle with metastatic breast cancer.

Born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on 23 May, 1944 and raised in Gallipolis, Ohio, she graduated with a BA from Lake Erie College for Women and in 1966 married Douglas M. Armstrong, Captain, USN-ret.

Geraldine was predeceased by her parents, Clifton D. and Ellen Richards of Casey Key, Florida.

She leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth Ansley Armstrong (Puett) and Margaret Fleming Armstrong (Fenton); a grandson, Richard Blake; granddaughter, Ansley Porter, and great-grandson, Ben Armstrong.

Thirty years a Navy wife, Gerrie was a strong, determined woman, a devoted mother, lifelong loving friend, and passionate gardener. Married for 53 years, she was the center that held our home together. May her soul rest in perpetual springtime where the flowers are always in bloom. We miss her so.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Khalil and the staff of the Peninsula Cancer Institute and Riverside Walter Reed Hospital for their exceptional dedication and care.

Family burial will be private at a later date.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, assisted the family.
