GERALD L. MORGAN SR.

Gerald L. Morgan Sr., 90, of Mathews, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017.

He was a Mathews High School graduate of 1944. He served as a Merchant Marine. Gerald acquired his Captain’s license in New York and served as the Captain of an oil tanker. His Master Captain’s license with unlimited tonnage for the whole East Coast is on display at the Mariners’ Museum in Newport News. He was also a pilot for Chesapeake & Interstate Pilots Association.

Gerald was a devoted husband to Eleanor D. Morgan for 70 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Gerald L. Morgan Jr., Robert Keith Morgan, John Chris Morgan and Lisa Morgan Temple; a brother, Robert Morgan; a sister, Janet Hunley; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Mathews Riverside Convalescent Center for their tremendous service, love and friendship.

Viewing for family and friends will be held at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home on Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock, with burial to follow at St. Paul Annex Cemetery.
